RE: Thoughts on Full Wall Slides

I think they are nice, but the jury is still out on how they will hold out after a few years of use. They are big and heavy.

RE: Balloon Fiesta

It is going to be windy until Tuesday of next week. The Santa Ana's are predicted through the canyons in southern California.
I have attended several balloon fiestas in Albuquerque, and it is not the first time they have had balloons fly into the powerlines. Fact I lived in Bosque Farms for eighteen years. And the power lines west of the field are a problem. I missed this years fiesta but I probably will try and make it next year.

I use Napa on my Cat engine. Napa sells a good filter.

RE: Great Detail Job On MH For $125.00!

You got a very good deal. About the only place I have seen where you can get a good deal like that is where they come across the border in San Diego.

Balloon Fiesta

I didn't make the balloon fiesta this year in Albuquerque, but I noticed on the news that a balloon hit a power line and hurt a couple of people in the gondola. Anybody down there seen this??
This is not the first time this has happened there and it seems to me like if they are going to hold that event there every year that the city would take some kind of action to get the powerlines under ground.

RE: Windshield Leak Survey

Just had my 2-piece windshield re-gasketed (96 Monaco), as it was showing daylight on both corners. Here's what the pro's told me and did:
Class A's bodies twist, due to ramps, driveways, rough roads, and uneven leveling. They've seen windshields poping out on most makes. The size of windshield gasket is a factor, and narrow ones (less than 2") unseat more easily. Silicon sealant is used by many glass installers and is bad for motorhomes. It is more slipery than sticky, and allows for more windshield movement.
On my rig they reseated the gasket, applied an automotive type sealant that sets like rubber, but remains flexible, and then caulked all around the gasket for added protection from rain.
I'd recommend these folks anytime - www.nomadglass.info
I have had my class A 38'coach with a one piece windshield since 2003 and it has never leaked. But some coaches do flex more then others. So maybe you are talking about longer coaches over forty foot. But I still say that if the hole for the windshield is cut out right, the windshield should fit right in and not leak.

RE: Tow Vehicle vs tow dolly

Tow dolly is the worst thing you can get. If you go to any private parks, it is hard to find a spot for the tow dolly. I used to have one and I lost the vehicle. Good thing I was coming to a stop sign when the tow vehicle went past me. I prefer the four down. It is so much better, that I highly recommend four down.

RE: What length is acceptable for motorhome and trailer?

In California they will give you a ticket if you are over 65'. I know many that have gotten nailed coming through the mountains south of Bakersfield, Ca. and they were only like 69'.

RE: How are you and your RV during these times?

We use ours alot, but we stay mostly in the west coast where we also have a house as a home base. We go out for two weeks on the coach, then two at home. Most of our trips are within seven hundred miles one way. The fuel and the economy has not bothered us.

RE: advice on caulking

It is true that Etherbond lasts a long time, but I have seen jobs where the Eherbond comes around the side and it looks ugly on motorhomes. It sticks up like a sore thumb. But if it is just on the top of the roof, THEN! it probably would not matter.

Cleaning and waxing THE ROOF? I'd sure like to see what the sides look like!
I think everybody that has a coach washes and waxes the roof?

RE: advice on caulking

Dicor is very good. Clean the area with lacquer thinner and apply Dicor. It will cover the crack right up and level itself.

RE: Radio

I agree that there are not many AM stations anymore. Get a satelite radio, either XM or Siruis. If you can get FM that is all you need for the satelite radio and you will have good reception anywhere you go. I have XM and we love it.

RE: Poor radio reception

Just go to a Best Buy store and buy a satelite radio, either XM or Sirius. I have the XM and we just love it. We have good reception in any part of the country. Easy to install the antenna.

RE: Tank Vent - Your Roof Mounted Vent - Why it's there!!

LOL! I knew when you bought that Monaco that you would be looking for something to do, just like you did on your TourMaster. I have been following your posts with interests for a couple of years and you simply amaze me as to all the energy you have. I really enjoy your posts.
You mention going south for the winter? I notice already that the Snowbirds are on the move, lots of motorhomes going on I-40 headed east and on I-15 headed towards Las Vegas.

RE: Electric Step Problem

Kwickie are always giving problems. I had one on another coach I had. It usually is a dirty connection.
I have the Gillette on the DP I got now and never had any problems with it.

RE: Pacbrake PRXB upgrade. (Here goes!!)

Yes! It sounds like it really does the job if you are driving alot on areas where you have 6% grades or better.
My coach with the toad weighs around 34K and so far I have no complaints about our exhaust brake. Never had any problems coming down from Yosemite or Idyllwild. But if it ever freezes up like yours was, I might consider one. I believe I read in Goggle that the kits run around $1100. bucks, which is not bad.
My exhaust brake is programed to go down to second gear gradually.

RE: Tank Vent - Your Roof Mounted Vent - Why it's there!!

I believe alcoby is correct, but this discussion has had me thinking. I have the 360% vent and it only has one hole. The outside air creates a vacuum and sucks the odor out as you drive or if standing still it will flop around with the wind and it is the best I have seen. Got it at Camper World. It took me five minutes to install.
